Edwin Hubble
Edwin Hubble was an American astronomer whose observations in the 1920s transformed our understanding of the universe.
He demonstrated that galaxies exist beyond the Milky Way and that the universe is expanding—discoveries that upended centuries of cosmology.
The Hubble Space Telescope bears his name: Hubble images revealed thousands of previously unseen galaxies.
