EU flag
Circle of stars
The EU flag is the official flag of the European Union: a circle of twelve gold stars on a blue background.
The stars represent unity and solidarity rather than member states—the number twelve was chosen for its symbolic completeness.
The EU flag flew outside the parliament building.
Critics of European integration sometimes burn or reject the flag as a symbol of supranational authority.
