Dutch doors
Horizontally divided portals
A Dutch door is a door divided horizontally, allowing the top and bottom halves to open independently.
The design lets air and light in while keeping children or animals contained.
Originally common in Dutch Colonial architecture, they remain popular for farmhouses, stables, and nurseries: She leaned over the Dutch door to chat with the neighbor.
