historical biographies
Past lives documented
Historical biographies are accounts of people's lives set within the context of their times, blending individual narrative with broader historical events and social conditions.
The genre treats its subjects as windows into their eras: a historical biography of Eleanor Roosevelt illuminates both the woman and mid-twentieth-century America.
Distinguished from memoir by its research-based approach and third-person perspective.
