Dicer
dsRNA cleaving enzyme
Dicer is an enzyme in molecular biology that cleaves double-stranded RNA into short fragments, playing a crucial role in RNA interference and gene silencing.
The name reflects its function of "dicing" RNA molecules into smaller pieces: Dicer processes precursor microRNAs into their mature forms. (Lowercase dicer is a kitchen tool or dice player.)
