DDoSing

Coordinated traffic attack

DDoSing is overwhelming a website or server with traffic from multiple sources to make it inaccessible—a distributed denial-of-service attack.

The distributed aspect distinguishes it from a simple DoS attack: the flood comes from many computers, often a botnet of compromised machines.

The site went down because someone was DDoSing it.

Sometimes used loosely for any intentional server overload.
