blackholing
Routing to nowhere
Blackholing is the practice of silently discarding network traffic rather than delivering it.
In network security, administrators blackhole malicious traffic to neutralize attacks: We're blackholing all traffic from that IP range.
The term derives from black holes in space, where nothing escapes.
More broadly, blackholing can describe any deliberate suppression of communication: The company was accused of blackholing customer complaints.
