Congos

African twin nations

Congos are a pair of tall, narrow drums of Afro-Cuban origin, played with the hands.

The drums come in graduated sizes—the smaller *quinto*, the medium *conga*, and the larger *tumba*—and are fundamental to Latin percussion: The congos drove the rhythm section.

Also called conga drums or congas.
