Carmilla

Carmilla is a female vampire from an 1872 Gothic novella by Sheridan Le Fanu, predating Bram Stoker's Dracula by twenty-five years.

The character established many vampire tropes—aristocratic origins, seductive nature, vulnerability to traditional countermeasures—while adding lesbian undertones that made the story influential in queer horror.

The name now evokes female vampires generally, particularly those with predatory or sapphic associations: She had a real Carmilla vibe about her.
