C-47
Wartime transport plane
The C-47 is a military transport aircraft derived from the Douglas DC-3, used extensively during World War II for troop transport, cargo hauling, and paratrooper drops.
It became one of the most important aircraft of the war, flying in every theater.
The designation lives on in military aviation history: The C-47s dropped paratroopers over Normandy on D-Day.
