British territory

Overseas imperial holding

British territory refers to land under the sovereignty or control of the United Kingdom.

This includes the British Overseas Territories—remnants of the former British Empire scattered across the globe, from Gibraltar to the Falkland Islands—as well as the Crown Dependencies of Jersey, Guernsey, and the Isle of Man.

The dispute centers on whether the islands are British territory.
