British Commonwealth
Former empire's association
The British Commonwealth, more formally the Commonwealth of Nations, is an association of countries, most of which were formerly part of the British Empire.
Member states share historical ties to Britain but are independent and sovereign.
The organization promotes cooperation in areas like trade, development, and governance.
Australia, Canada, and India are all members of the British Commonwealth.
The word "British" has largely been dropped from the official name, though it persists in casual usage.
