Appaloosas

Mottled coat equines

Appaloosas are horses of a breed known for distinctive spotted coat patterns—leopard spots, blankets, or mottled markings, often with striped hooves and mottled skin around the eyes and muzzle.

Developed by the Nez Perce people in the Pacific Northwest, the breed takes its name from the Palouse River region.

Appaloosas are prized for trail riding and Western disciplines: She bought a flashy Appaloosa with a leopard blanket pattern.
