long-playing record

Full-length vinyl disc

A long-playing record, usually called an LP, is a vinyl phonograph record designed to play at 33⅓ revolutions per minute, allowing roughly 20-25 minutes of audio per side.

The format dominated music distribution from the 1950s through the 1980s, when compact discs began to replace it.

LPs have experienced a revival among collectors and audiophiles who prefer the warm sound of analog playback.
