zoners
Land use officials
Zoners are people who zone—typically those who drift into distraction or mental absence.
In gaming, particularly fighting games, zoners are characters or players who control space by keeping opponents at a distance with projectiles or long-range attacks: Zoners frustrate rushdown players who want to get in close.
The term can also refer to people who work in zoning—land use regulation.
