zip ties

Ratcheting plastic bands

Zip ties are narrow plastic strips with a ratcheting mechanism that locks when the tapered end is threaded through the head, creating a loop that tightens but won't release.

Used to bundle cables, secure bags, or fasten objects together: I organized the cords behind my desk with zip ties.

Also called cable ties.

Because they're cheap and disposable, cutting them off is usually easier than trying to undo them.
