yellowtails
Prized sushi fish
Yellowtails are fish distinguished by their yellow tail fins, found in warm and temperate oceans worldwide.
Several species carry this common name, including the yellowtail amberjack popular in sport fishing and the Japanese amberjack prized in sushi restaurants as hamachi.
We caught several yellowtails off the coast of Baja.
The name applies broadly to any fish with the characteristic yellow caudal fin, though it most commonly refers to species in the jack family.
