yellow star
Forced Jewish identifier
A yellow star is a star in the middle temperature range, appearing yellow or yellow-white—our sun is one.
The term also refers to the Star of David badge that Jews were forced to wear in Nazi-occupied Europe, a marker for persecution and eventual genocide: Her grandmother survived the camps; she still has the yellow star.
The historical symbol has become iconic of the Holocaust.
