yellow canary
Small golden singer
A yellow canary is a small songbird bred for its bright yellow plumage and melodious singing, the most familiar variety of domestic canary.
The phrase is somewhat redundant since most pet canaries are yellow, though wild canaries and some bred varieties come in other colors.
She kept a yellow canary in a cage by the window.
