x-ray scan
Bone picture procedure
An x-ray scan is a medical imaging procedure that uses x-ray radiation to create pictures of structures inside the body.
The term is somewhat redundant—x-rays are themselves a scanning technology—but appears in casual use: The doctor ordered an x-ray scan of my chest.
More precise terms include x-ray, radiograph, or CT scan depending on the specific technique.
