wrong fuel
Diesel in petrol
Wrong fuel refers to putting the incorrect type of fuel in a vehicle—typically diesel in a petrol engine or petrol in a diesel engine.
The mistake is common enough at filling stations that wrong fuel has become a standard term in roadside assistance: I put wrong fuel in my car and now it won't start.
The error can cause serious engine damage if the vehicle is driven.
