wooden fort
Log-built defensive structure
A wooden fort is a defensive structure built primarily of timber, typically featuring walls of upright logs or planks.
Such forts were common in frontier settlements and military outposts before modern construction: The soldiers garrisoned the wooden fort through winter.
The term also describes children's play structures and backyard constructions: They spent the summer building a wooden fort in the trees.
