wing walker

Airborne stunt performer

A wing walker is a stunt performer who stands, walks, or performs acrobatics on the wings of an airplane during flight.

The practice dates to barnstorming shows of the 1920s and continues at airshows today.

The term sometimes extends figuratively to anyone taking visible risks in a precarious position: He's the wing walker of the organization, always out on a limb.
