Flanking defensive players
Wing-backs are a style of upholstered chair with side panels extending from the back to form wings, originally designed to shield the sitter from drafts: a pair of leather wing-backs flanked the fireplace.
In soccer, wing-backs are defenders who play wide and push forward to support attacks, combining fullback and winger roles.
