wild boars
Tusked forest hogs
Wild boars are the wild ancestors of domestic pigs—large, tusked mammals native to Eurasia and North Africa.
They have coarse dark hair, muscular bodies, and a reputation for aggressive behavior when threatened.
Feral pigs descended from escaped domestic stock are often called wild boars as well.
Wild boar hunting remains popular in parts of Europe and the American South.
