wholesale price
Retailer's acquisition cost
The wholesale price is what a retailer pays to acquire goods in bulk from a manufacturer or distributor, before marking them up for sale to consumers.
It's lower than the retail price because it excludes the retailer's profit margin and overhead: We get supplies at wholesale price through my uncle's business.
The term implies buying in quantity rather than individual units.
