white whiskey

Clear distilled liquor

White whiskey is unaged whiskey—clear spirit that goes straight from distillation to bottle without time in wooden barrels.

The aging process in charred oak gives bourbon and other whiskeys their amber color and much of their flavor, so white whiskey tastes raw and grainy by comparison.

Also called white dog or moonshine, though commercial versions are now legally produced: The distillery sells white whiskey while their aged stock matures.
