wet county
Liquor sales allowed
A wet county is one where the sale of alcohol is legal, as opposed to a dry county where it is prohibited.
The distinction exists primarily in the United States, where local jurisdictions can restrict alcohol sales even when state law permits them.
We had to drive to the next county to buy beer—ours was dry until last year.
