well vodka
Cheap bar spirit
Well vodka is the cheapest vodka a bar stocks, kept in the "well"—the bartender's easily accessible speed rack below the counter.
When you order a vodka tonic without specifying a brand, you get well vodka: The well vodka here is rough, but it's cheap.
Contrast with call or top-shelf liquor, where you name your brand.
