well-tempered
Pleasantly balanced disposition
Well-tempered describes someone with a good, even disposition—calm and not easily provoked: a well-tempered child who rarely fusses.
In music, well-tempered refers to a tuning system that allows instruments to play in all keys, most famously in Bach's *Well-Tempered Clavier*.
The musical sense involves "tempering" or adjusting intervals so none sound badly out of tune.
