weather strip

Door edge seal

Weather strip is material used to seal gaps around doors and windows, preventing drafts, moisture, and dust from entering.

It comes in various forms—foam tape, rubber gaskets, felt, vinyl—applied where movable parts meet fixed frames.

As a verb, to weather-strip is to install such material: We need to weather-strip the back door before winter.
