washouts
Events canceled by rain
Washouts are failures or disappointments—people or things that didn't pan out: Half the recruits were washouts by the second week.
The term comes from erosion, where water washes away soil or road surfaces, creating gaps or collapses.
A washed-out road is impassable; a washed-out candidate never made it.
In sports, a washout is a rained-out game.
