call-offs
Plans suddenly abandoned
Call-offs are cancellations, especially of scheduled events, orders, or agreements.
In labor contexts, a call-off is when an employee phones in to say they won't be working their shift: We had three call-offs today, so we're short-staffed.
In manufacturing and supply chains, call-offs are requests to deliver portions of a larger standing order as needed.
