versifying
Writing in meter
Versifying is the act of composing verse or turning something into poetic form.
The word often carries a faintly dismissive tone, suggesting poetry that's competent but uninspired—more craft than art: He spent his evenings versifying about nature.
Someone who versifies may be called a versifier, typically not a compliment among serious poets.
