venturing

Setting out boldly

Venturing is the present participle of venture—to undertake something risky or uncertain, or to go somewhere potentially dangerous.

It often appears with directional words: venturing out into the storm, venturing into unfamiliar territory.

To venture an opinion or guess is to offer one tentatively, acknowledging you might be wrong.
