vent hole

Pressure release opening

A vent hole is an opening that allows air, gas, or pressure to escape or enter.

Containers, molds, and enclosed spaces often require vent holes to prevent pressure buildup or allow proper airflow: The casting had vent holes to let trapped gases escape.

In clothing, vent holes provide breathability; in electronics, they prevent overheating.
