An upsweep is a hairstyle in which the hair is brushed or pinned upward, typically gathering at the crown or back of the head: She wore her hair in an elegant upsweep for the gala.
More broadly, upsweep describes any upward curve or movement: the upsweep of a bird's wing, an upsweep in sales figures.
As a verb, to upsweep is to brush or curve upward.
