uphill putt
Ascending green attempt
An uphill putt in golf is a putt where the ball must travel up a slope toward the hole.
Uphill putts are generally preferred over downhill ones because the ball moves more slowly and is easier to control: I'd rather leave myself an uphill putt than risk rolling past the hole.
Figuratively, an uphill putt describes any task that's challenging but manageable.
