upcard

Exposed dealt card

In card games, the upcard is a card dealt face up, visible to all players.

In blackjack, it's the dealer's exposed card that players use to make decisions: The dealer's upcard was a six, so I stood on sixteen.

In gin rummy, it's the first card turned up from the stock to start the discard pile.
