unweaving

Taking apart fabric

Unweaving is the act of undoing something woven—pulling threads apart to reverse the process of weaving.

The word appears most often figuratively: unweaving a narrative, unweaving a mystery, unweaving the fabric of society.

Keats famously accused Newton of unweaving the rainbow by reducing it to prismatic colors.
