unthatching
Stripping reed roofing
Unthatching is removing the layer of dead grass, roots, and debris (thatch) that accumulates between living grass blades and soil.
Excessive thatch prevents water and nutrients from reaching roots: The lawn needs unthatching before we reseed.
The process uses specialized rakes or power dethatcher machines.
