unknown caller
Unidentified phone contact
Unknown caller is the label displayed on a phone when an incoming call lacks identifiable information—the number is blocked, unavailable, or withheld by the caller.
It appears on caller ID screens as a warning that you can't know who's calling before answering: I never pick up for unknown callers.
The term has become shorthand for suspicious or unwanted calls, since legitimate contacts usually show a name or number.
