unformat

Strip text styling

To unformat is to remove formatting from text or data, returning it to a plain or raw state.

In word processing, unformatting strips away bold, italics, fonts, and other styling: I pasted the text and unformatted it to match the document.

In computing, unformat can also refer to recovering data from a formatted disk, though this usage is rarer.
