unbrainwash
Reverse mental conditioning
To unbrainwash is to reverse the effects of indoctrination or psychological manipulation—to restore someone's ability to think independently after they've been conditioned to accept certain beliefs.
The term implies that brainwashing has already occurred and needs undoing: It took years to unbrainwash him after he left the cult.
The word carries the same informal, slightly hyperbolic quality as brainwash itself.
