tumorectomy
Excising abnormal tissue
Tumorectomy is the surgical removal of a tumor, typically along with a small margin of surrounding tissue.
The term appears most often in breast cancer treatment, where it's synonymous with lumpectomy—removing the tumor while preserving most of the breast: The surgeon recommended a tumorectomy rather than a full mastectomy.
