tuliptree
Tall flowering hardwood
A tuliptree is a large North American hardwood tree with distinctive four-lobed leaves and tulip-shaped flowers.
It grows tall and straight, making it valuable for lumber.
Despite the name, it belongs to the magnolia family, not the tulip family.
Also called tulip poplar or yellow poplar, though it's not a true poplar either.
