simple leaf

One continuous blade

A simple leaf has a single undivided blade attached to its stem, as opposed to a compound leaf, which is divided into separate leaflets.

The blade may have lobes or teeth along its edge but remains one continuous piece: Oak and maple trees have simple leaves.
