tulip bulb
Spring bloom's origin
A tulip bulb is the underground storage organ of a tulip plant, planted in fall to bloom in spring.
The term is historically associated with the Dutch tulip mania of the 1630s, when speculation drove single bulbs to extraordinary prices before the market collapsed—often cited as the first recorded speculative bubble.
