true rib
Directly joins breastbone
A true rib is one of the upper seven pairs of ribs that attach directly to the breastbone through their own cartilage.
The remaining five pairs are false ribs—three connect to the breastbone indirectly through shared cartilage, and the lowest two (floating ribs) have no front attachment at all.
