tremblors

Seismic ground movements

Tremblors are earthquakes or earth tremors.

The word is chiefly American and appears most often in news coverage of seismic events: A series of tremblors shook the region overnight.

The spelling tremblor (without the s) is the singular.

Some use trembler interchangeably, though tremblor predominates in journalism.
